Guidelines for Effective Resume Writing

1# Check dates of all prior employment, listed in sequence starting from recent employer

2# Check your address and phone number,are they still current and correct?

3# Don't overcrowd your resume; allow for plenty of white space.

4# Keep it short. The effective resume is preferably one page, two at the most.

5# Keep the number of fonts you use to a minimum - two at the most.

6# Do not overuse capitalization, italics, underlines, or other emphasizing features.

7# Omit gender, age, race, marital status, or other similar personal information.

8# Don’t mention your current, or expected salary on the resume.

9# Provide only breife information of projects you have worked on, Don't go into details.

10# Mention your role and responsibilities at current position

11# Check the Education information, make sure its written in sequence starting from higher degree

12# Put current date on the resume and sign it

13# Be careful about the spelling/grammatical mistakes

14# if you have mentioned any references, make sure that you have mentioned designation and contact numbers correctly

15# Make sure contact information is easily available to reader, preferably at the top of the first page or in footer of every page.

16# Make sure the skills required for job you are applying for, are mentioned on the first page of your resume.

17# Structure resume like: Name as Title and then Summary, Education, Skill, Experience, Projects,other Details and at the end references

18# First summary part of your resume should clearly state your experience till date, current employer, current designation, current location.

19# Never mention unnecessary information like your hobbies etc

20# Make sure each and every details provided in the resume is accurate till date.
